CLC Clubs & Descriptions

21st CCLC (CLC) Club Descriptions 2024-25  

Neil Armstrong Middle School 

 

The activities below are offered by school District staff, community members and community organizations, ensuring students grow and connect academically, socially, & emotionally.

 

Chicas - Youth Leadership & Development Program for girls  (Mondays)

A proactive approach to empower Latina girls to develop leadership potential, build a strong cultural identity, adopt a healthy lifestyle and achieve academic success.

 

Culinary Club (Thursdays) (CLUB IS ALREADY FULL FOR BOTH SEMESTERS)

Culinary club is an easy, delicious and practical way to learn all about foods, while cooking in a relaxed, friendly environment. Come and go on a delicious journey of crafting, tasting, and exploring foods of the world.

 

Soccer Club (Tuesdays) (STARTS 11/05)

It will consist of practicing soccer skills to develop individual, and  team soccer excellence.  This club is open to all levels of skills or experience.  Join us after school for a fun way to stay active while learning new skills and make new friends. 

 

Board Games Club (Wednesday)

In this Club you will use board games to enhance Language & Communication skills, Self Regulation skills, and Social thinking skills.

Chess Club (Tuesdays)

Fun club to learn Chess and to play it with friends and others, Get your thinking skills and strategies going.  Using chess as a tool for building community, connection and confidence.    

 

Fitness Club (Tuesdays) THIS CLUB IS NO LONGER OFFERED.

Students will learn the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle. Students of all fitness levels will learn to set realistic goals, track individual progress, and actively participate in a variety of workouts based on individual student interests.  Students will also learn about health, wellness, and nutritional information. 

 

Ballet Folklorico (Thursdays)

Students enrolled in Bailes Folkloricos will develop an awareness and appreciation of Mexican Folkloric dances as a performing art.

Throughout this season of 2024-2025 each student will develop, refine and demonstrate a thorough historical and physical understanding of various regional dance styles and traditions of Mexico. All students enrolled in this activity will be expected to participate and showcase a dance at the end of the season.  No previous experience needed, all levels welcome!

 

Unified LEGO Club (Wednesdays)

Promoting Inclusion and Friendship…LEGO club encourages students with and without intellectual disabilities to come together to have  fun!   Creativity, problem solving, and teamwork are some of the skills that "playing" with LEGOS can teach. All LEGO's will be provided! 

 

 

NAMS Art Club (Mondays)

The NAMS Art Club is for anyone who…

  • Wants a space to try a new hobby or skill in art
  • Enjoys art and wants to grow in their skills
  • Wants a fun, relaxed atmosphere to get creative with their friends! 
  • Each week will feature a different art medium to experiment with - from painting, to watercolor, to collage, and more. There will also be opportunities for “free studio”, in which students will be able to choose what art style/medium they want to explore. This is a relaxed environment that is low-stakes - everyone is welcome, regardless of ability or skill level! Come get creative! 

 

MEChA Leadership Club (Thursdays)

Mecha is the Spanish word for "fuse". The motto of M.E.Ch.A. is 'La Unión Hace La Fuerza' (Unity makes strength). Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán (M.E.Ch.A.) is a student-led organization that promotes higher education, cultural awareness, community involvement, and leadership development.

 

Sewing Club (Wednesday) (STARTS 10/24)

The Sewing Club is open to students of all sewing abilities, including those with no experience.  Come learn the essentials, then build up your skills in a fun environment with others!  The club is designed to teach youth the skills of sewing such as how to use a sewing machine, sewing techniques, sewing projects and to discover potential career interest in this field.

 

Improv Club (Mondays) (STARTS 10/21)

Improv is a type of live theater where the characters, scene, and story are made up on the spot. We play theater games to help us come up with scenes. If you enjoy making up worlds, supporting your friends, and having a grand time performing, then this is the club for you!

 

Drama Club (Tuesdays) (STARTS 10/22)

 

Study Hall (No registration required) (Monday - Thursday)

Study Hall is available to all students  Monday through Thursday. Supports include having FGSD staff available to answer questions that students may have for class or school in general.  

This will also offer a space for students that need extra time and/or support on their classwork/homework and help troubleshoot communication with teachers if needed.  

This activity does not require registration, it is open as needed but students will still follow the after school program (CLC) schedule and remain in Study Hall until 4:20 unless instructed otherwise by parent(s)/guardian(s). 

 

ELD Support  (Opciones, Ayuda Academica) Monday & Thursday

Academic support for English Language Learners.
